I walk from downtown San Juan when the day feels perfect. It’s great for sunbathing, people-watching, andmore.

The star is Flamenco Beach, excellently ranked #2. It sits between the best beaches in the world. When I visited, the sand felt soft like like flour. The water was impossibly clear, cool, and bright.

This is serious snorkeling action, so plan smart. A fair warning, the boat ride can feel rocky. Come prepared with motionsickness patches or Dramamine. And don’t even think about bringing extra stuff.
You don’t want your bag drenched from spray. I focused on exploring underwater scenes, deep underwater. You’ll dock near a deserted island called Icacos. Then go basking in glorious sunshine and warm sunshine.

I explored Castillo San Felipe del Morro at sunset. It’s one of the top historical sites to learn history. Afterward, I grabbed brunch and kept strolling downtown. I popped into art galleries and tiny corners nearby.
The lanes are full of boutiques and charming finds. You’ll spot little shops with crafts and small treats. There are severalfun things to do here. It fits all ages, from kids to grandparents.

In Condado, the clubs nightlife feels bright and welcoming. In San Juan, salsa learning feels like a rite of passage. The roots link Puerto Rico and Cuba through shared rhythm. You can feel Puerto Rico’s influence in genre creation.
That influence and creation show up in every beat. I came prepared to spin and laugh through mistakes. Start with a beginner class before you hit clubs. As a beginner, a class gives steps you can trust.
You can meet a new dancing partner fast. A dancing partner becomes a dancing partner for the night. Bring friends if you want extra courage. It stays fun, even if you miss a step.

If you’re looking for real Puerto Rico nightlife, start here. I came to La Placita and instantly felt the vibe. The nightlife in these streets has a different vibe. It’s comprised of different bars, bars one after another.
I grabbed drinks and mixed in cocktails fast. With several stops, I was not disappointed at all. We hopped to and from clubs and each spot. The music brings perreo, and yes, ask me how I know.
The energy is a full Party that feels nonstop. The crowd is why I get drawn back over multiple nights. It literally spills out and the dancing spills everywhere.I loved dancing, then chased midnight snacks and snacks.

9.San Se Festival Nights in Old San Juan
The San Sebastian Street Festival is one of the biggest events. In San Juan, it is held annually in January. I got to take part during my bachelorette trip.That trip in Puerto Rico made the week feel electric.
It’s often referred to as the San Se Festival. Locals call it the unofficial closing of the holiday season. If you go, expect Old San Juan to be taken over. You’ll hear music, see dancing, and catch street performances.
You’ll spot local artisans selling handmade goods everywhere. They’re out throughout the day, with color and craft. Later, the streets turn into parties after dark. The whole vibe peaks at night time under warm lights.
10.Visit Loíza for Quiet Beache
Loíza is a hidden gem for a quick day trip. From San Juan, the drive is a short drive. It feels special, with vibrant Afro-Puerto Rican culture. This culture is deeply rooted in local tradition and tradition.
I saw vejigante masks and other masks everywhere. The beautiful masks stayed on my mind all week. I danced to bomba drumming and steady drumming. That sound shows a vibrant culture that feels alive.
Then I found gorgeous lesser-known beaches and calm beaches. They felt beautiful, quiet, and truly lesser-known. I also supported local artisans and talented artisans. Their work is rooted in the local story.
If you’re looking for non-touristy things to do, go. In Puerto Rico, it’s an essential add-on add-on. Add it to your itinerary as a special place. This lesser-known stop feels honest and deeply local.
11.Playing a Golf Near the San Jaun
Lastly, Play a Round ofGolf in San Juan. It’s perfect for a guys trip or bachelor party. I love golf here for the scenery and pace. Choose one of Puerto Rico’s best courses for daylight hours.
Pick a course with amazing views at every turn. Look for white sandy beaches and turquoise waters nearby. I suggest a trip over to St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort. You can play theircourse, set in the foothills.
Those hills frame El Yunque in the distance. It makes each swing feel calmer and more focused. Additionally, head to Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Rainforest Beach andGolf Resort. You get a choice between two strong layouts.
Try the Ocean Course designed by award winning names. The golf architects were Tom & George Fazio. Or take the River Course for a different feel. That path Honors Greg Norman and rewards smart shots.

Take the ferry on the bay for a famous stop. Head to Casa Bacardí and the Bacardi Rum Factory. Book a tour to learn how iconic rum is made. I love how the rum story impressions iconic and local.
You can sip plenty along theway during tastings. Then diveinto cocktails with a mixology class. That class is worth the extra splurge for skills. The mixology lessons made my cocktails taste better.
I even filmed a cute boomerang for my boomerang feed. It looked great on IG, and felt cool. This is a indoor thing and a smart thing to do. When it rains, you may need a break from beach.
Take the ferry across for a relaxed ride. From Casa, enjoy a view of Old Town. You’ll see across thewater and shimmering water below. That town view is absolutely worth it.
It’s truly indoor, easy, and absolutely worth it. I left smiling, warm, and ready for the next stop.
13.Hip Santurce
In San Juan, I head to Santurce for something fresh. Hip Santurce feels artsy, with real creative energy. That energy is perfect for a chill afternoon. One afternoon, I wandered through local markets and markets.
I popped into museums and small studios nearby. The local scene feels cool and deeply cultural. It’s a change of pace compared to touristy areas. Think Old San Juan and Condado, but with less polish.
I always go where the locals go and watch. You can feel where locals locals go naturally. Later, I ended thenight with music and lights. That night, I tried craft cocktails and smooth cocktails.
I liked the craft touch and relaxed service. Then I went dancing until the streets emptied. Some places run museums night events for late visitors. The artsy vibe stays strong, and feels truly creative.
This chill stop is one of the best things to do. In Puerto Rico, it is definitely worth the detour. It’s a clear cultural change you can feel fast. I left inspired, and I still crave that neighborhood.
14.Shop at Plaza del Mercado
In the neighborhood of Santurce, Plaza del Mercado is a must visit. I go byday, and that day feels instantly local. Step into Plaza del Mercado de Santurce for an authentic local experience. The lively market is a true market, always filled with produce.
I browse handmade goods, and compare the small goods closely. The Caribbean vibes are real, and the vibes stay strong. It’s perfect if you’re staying in Airbnb or VRBO nearby. If you want to cook, grab peppers, then cook later.
I order a freshly-made batida, then a second batida. After one sip, you’ll say thank me later. On weekends, it turns into a food and music hub. This hub stays cheap, fun, and totally local.
Later, the food hub becomes a pulsing music hub. I almost didn’t recognize it when it turned into La Placita. At night, the market feels louder; at night I feel Caribbean. The music carries far, even beyond the stalls.
